Our theme this month is 'Strengths'. Only 3 in 10 people can name their strengths and most people will only think about their strengths when they are asked, for example on a job application form. If you have completed the VIA strengths survey (www.viacharacter.org) you can benefit from knowing what your strengths are, however application is key. Being aware of your strengths and applying them in your daily life is invaluable. These are my strengths and how I apply them,

Hope - When I have challenges to deal with I believe that the situation will improve and I will learn and grow from it.
Perspective - I tend to look at things from different angles and I have learnt to take a step back when I realise that I am trying too hard to control a situation.
Honesty - I practice what I preach and I wouldn't ask someone to do anything that I wouldn't do.
Love of Learning - I am continually learning and I love to share what I have learnt.
Perserverance - I keep going until a task is completed regardless of the obstacles. Once I have made a decision I follow it through.

New Positive Psychology & Meditation Online Sessions

Monday 11th April

There is a free monthly workshop, Thursday 28th April, 7.30-8.30pm. This is to introduce the joy of Positive Psychology to anyone who may be interested in improving the quality of their life. Member Of The Month

Sandra Elkin

Sandra has been coming to Positive Psychology groups since October 2020. When I first met Sandra she had moved to a new area and was grieving her old life. And then lockdown happened. Isolation was a real threat to Sandra but with commitment to the groups, applying self compassion and taking action Sandra has created a new life for herself. Sandra’s top strengths are love of learning, honesty and kindness, and she is using them to help her flourish. This photo shows Sandra achieving her first open water swim.

Contemplate, Create and Conserve - Time For You In Autumn

Have you ever considered a weekend of healthy walks, self care, pampering, creative activities and relaxation? Frances and I are exploring the idea of organising a retreat which would include all of these activities and more. We predict the cost would be approx £300 for 3/4 nights in October 2022. Podcasts are a great way to learn and they are free! We have some episodes on strengths, such as Hope, Kindness, Wisdom, Perspective, Courage, Creativity, and Judgment.

Laughter Yoga

There is a free online laughter yoga session most Saturday mornings from 10-10.30am. Caroline Livingstone, meditation teacher, will be providing a free online meditation one Saturday morning a month from next week.
